Noel Uhlemann is a German trumpet player, composer and arranger based in Amsterdam. Born in 1996 he discovered his interest in music early on and started his first trumpet lessons at the age of six. After gaining his first experiences playing in ensembles in his schools, he found his passion for jazz at the age of 14 and started taking lessons with Klaus Osterloh while joining his first jazz ensemble with the big band of his High School Calvarienberg. This would later be followed by lessons with Matthias Bergmann and Jan Wessels and participations in many renowned ensembles such as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate. |
In 2018 he moved to the Netherlands and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in jazz trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2024 after taking lessons with Jan Wessels, Jan Oosthof, Erik Veldkamp, Jacco Groenendijk, Alex Sipiagin and Terrel Stafford. He is currently studying at Codarts in Rotterdam for his Master’s degree in composition and arrangement with lessons from Paul van Brugge and S’yo Fang. In his time in the Netherlands so far he has been working in ensembles such as Metropole Academy, the National Student Jazz Orchestra of the Netherlands and the Jong Metropole Orkest. Besides performing in several ensembles in Germany and the Netherlands with tours through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Rwanda and the United States, he played with artists like Bart van Lier, Donny McCaslin, Steve Fidyk, Matt Gallagher, Nils Wülker, Ruud Ouwehand, Jesse van Ruller, Shirma Rouse Roxeanne Hazes and many more. |
